I am Lisa, the creator of the Healthy Snack website and blog. I’ve been on this journey of healthy eating for a while; in fact, I’ve been concentrating on nutrition, exercise, and health approaches to treat my chronic pain. I’ve made a lot of mistakes and learned from them, but in the end, I’ve found my own beliefs and methods that work for me.

When I was a young child, I fell off an adult man’s shoulders onto concrete and shattered my tailbone. I struggled to sit in classroom chairs for years due to tailbone pain. When I was a youngster, I often felt ill on days that were humid and rainy, and I just accepted this as the norm. Then I started getting unexplained injuries. First, I tore my Achilles tendon while playing baseball with friends in our backyard. I kept damaging my Achilles tendon while doing sports after that original injury. Today, I’ve had a total of 15 surgeries after three (again, minor) car accidents, but for some reason, my body is still breaking down.

I’ve struggled with pain management over the years. Along with many conventional procedures and medications, I’ve dabbled with a ton of alternative medical methods. I began weaning myself off opioids in 2019, which was both horrifying and a gift. I’m attempting to heal my body right now by consuming wholesome foods. It is time-consuming and has several turns.

Healthy Snacks were created to help people who could be on a similar path or who might just like to eat a more nutrient-dense, well-balanced diet. Healthy snacks are among the most difficult diet components to include. Here is some help because, at least for me, that is where I struggle the most to remain on track and strike the right balance when running errands may be challenging.

As this page expands, I also intend to provide more information about my path and other healthy options.
